Ghar-wali Diwali

For me, Diwali has always been about coming home, being with people you love, laughing and eating *lots* of food.

This year’s table has been about finding hidden treasures from my grand mom’s cupboard- the beautiful ‘pandaan’, the silverware and the ‘lota’ that my mother still uses on every karvachauth; new loves- the waterlilies and ‘pattals’ which I found at the  local flower market; and all those things that will forever remind me of my childhood- ‘kheel-khilone’, ‘shareefa’ which we plucked on Diwali morning from the large tree outside the kitchen and eclairs, well deserved after a morning spent making ‘rangoli’. It is almost a tangible expression of all that Diwali meant as a kid :D
